Now, let me rewind just a little. 2020 did have some silver linings. By far the biggest moment of 2020 for Apostrophe was the launch of Apostrophe 3 Alpha, which was coupled with a new docs site, boilerplate, and live demo. We also hit a new rhythm for how we ship updates to ApostropheCMS and its family of extensions. Overall, we made over 30 releases to the Apostrophe ecosystem, with 13 of these coming on a new bi-weekly schedule, and led to some great updates like Apostrophe Guides, Widget Categories, and HEIF/HEIC image support in our media gallery.
Back to the road ahead. Here's a peek on what we're working on (and you can always check out our public roadmap as well).
Beta 1
We are looking ahead to our Beta 1 release which represents a huge milestone for A3. Beta 1 marks the first in a string of beta releases that focus on the roll out of both redesigned familiar features and entirely new ones, as well as catching any bugs you've caught in our previous alpha releases.
A3 Stable
It's coming. It's close, even. We're still on track to release A3 stable at the beginning of Q2 following our aforementioned string of betas. Following our stable release, we'll be rolling out full featured code and content migration modules to make the upgrade process smooth for everyone.
API Docs
We did a lot of writing over the break. We've completely refreshed our Reference and API docs for A3 to ensure greater readability and usability. This is part of a larger push towards a new documentation experience that we'll be rolling out over the next few months.
Gatsby Connector
In the coming weeks, we'll be publishing a Gatsby connector for those who want to utilize Apostrophe in the Jamstack. We'll also be releasing a step-by-step tutorial on how to use the connector as well.
The Road Ahead
It's paved and signs are being installed. Of course, I reference our Roadmap. View what's under consideration, planned, and most of all, submit your own ideas and vote on others. In the meantime, watch for our bi-weekly releases on Github or Twitter to follow the roll-out of all the work ahead.
