ApostropheCMS automatically captures draft versions of your pages and pieces, so you can see what a document looked like at any earlier point, and restore it if needed.

Accessing previous versions

  1. Open the document in Edit mode, then click the action menu (the three-dot icon, top right), or open it from the manager modal.
  2. Select Document Versions.
  3. In the Document Versions modal, select a version from the list on the right to preview it.

Comparing versions

  1. With a version selected, click View Options next to the Restore button.
  2. Toggle Compare versions on. The fields that changed between versions will be highlighted.
  3. Optionally, toggle Show differences only to hide unchanged fields.
  4. Use the dropdown at the top of the right panel to switch between versions.

The left panel always shows the current content. The right panel shows the version you're comparing it to.

Restoring a previous version

Select the version you want in the right panel and click Restore. This overwrites your current draft — the restored content becomes the new working version.

Note: Restoring doesn't delete your version history. The draft you had before restoring is still there if you need to go back to it.
